Replacing fascias, soffits and guttering on a typical house costs £1,000 – £3,000. Per metre, full uPVC replacement runs £50 – £90 supplied and fitted, aluminium £90 – £150, and capping over sound existing timber £25 – £45. A three-bed semi usually has 25 – 35 metres of roofline.
Full replacement or capping?
Capping boards are cheaper because the existing timber stays. That only works if the timber is sound — capping over rotten fascias traps moisture and the problem returns within a few years. If more than a small section is soft, full replacement is the honest option.
uPVC, timber or aluminium
uPVC is the default: low maintenance, 20+ year life, white or coloured. Timber looks right on period properties but needs repainting every 4 – 5 years. Aluminium costs the most but is slim, strong and lasts 30+ years — popular on contemporary homes and where profiles must stay thin.

Roofline work is cheapest when scaffold is already up for a re-roof. If your roof replacement is coming within a year or two, combining the jobs can save £500 – £900 in duplicated access costs.
